No, it is not cheating!... Well not entirely. Basically it is a google maps software meshed with the game and allows players to see pokemon real time where they live with google maps making it easier to see where the heck to go!
I am not sure how I feel how this tbh. I don't think it is cheating but I feel like it may make the game too easy. There is not a whole lot of strategy involved from what I read, like it is nothing like the normal games they make but ehh. Idk. I might give it a try.
As great as Pokevision was since Niantic had not fixed the 3-step bug, I hate to see it leave. Especially now that Niantic removed the tracking completely and most of the time the nearby is completely inaccurate. I at least wanted PokeVision to last until Niantic fixed their in game tracking. Though honestly, I think this also brought in a lot of new trainers as you could pull up an area and then head to said area and walk around to find the Pokemon. In my opinion, I think Niantic messed up on this one and will probably see a bit of their fan base disappear, not just for shutting down PokeVision but for not fixing their in game tracker and keeping their users in the dark about it. With quotes from the developers just stating "We are aware of it" I also find it funny that a lot of users are requesting refunds for in-app purchases and are receiving them. Again because of the fact that the tracker is still broken. I'm interested to see how this will all play out in the coming weeks and how it will affect their player base.
Yeah Niantic really needs to fix their game. In the beginning I heard that Niantic introduced 3 step bug on purpose to reduce load of their server but I'm hearing that they removed the steps because they didn't want kids running into traffic or trespassing.... I'm not really sure what the real reasons are but I just hope that they will implement even better tracking method.
It is possible. Though I think it broke when they reduced the amount of calculations per player they were doing. It was like 6 calculations per player which in turn ended up to being millions of calculations on their servers which is what caused a lot of the issues in the beginning. When they reduced that the map stopped working and that is when the 3 step bug came up. Now it might not be related at all but that is what I think it is. And Niantic's "fix" is to remove it completely. Reminds of that Office Space scene. "Now hold on professor we 'FIXED' the glitch. Meaning the footprints are now gone. So it'll just work itself out naturally." Which by the way there used to be a placeholder for the map as well but with the 0.32.0 update on iOS that placeholder has been removed. All in all I will still probably play it but will rely heavily on sites like this one to find nests. As right now it is the only viable option to find any kind of Pokemon you want without the use of luck.
https://twitter.com/pokevisiongo Bummer man, I heard about this today and didn't get the chance to try it out. I am shocked that it was pulled and just stopped so quickly. I don't really follow things like this or know what is going on but still. If it goes back up, someone tag me!
